HIGHLY DESIRABLE WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 SGL SHOT SCHUETZEN RIFLE CUSTOMIZED BY H.M. POPE WITH J.W. FECKER TELESCOPE.WINCHESTER1885NSN22W/SCOPE,MARBLES PEP SIGHT, SIGHTING DISKMODERN; C&RCal. 22. 29-3/8" rnd bbl. Full blued finish. Stocked with quarter-sawn birds eye maple. Forestock is full length with brass cap. Buttstock has cheekpiece, Schuetzen buttstock and patchbox on right side. Operating lever has maple handle that is checkered at the rear. Bottom tang of buttstock has an engraved finial extending forward. Schuetzen butt appears to be aluminum. Receiver has Stevens sight mount attached on left side that mounts a Marble-Goss receiver sight. Forend has a machine-turned palmrest mount installed to mount a ball-shaped cork palmrest. Right side wall of receiver has been cut away, showing a machine-turned block. Included with the rifle is a sighting disk. CONDITION: Very fine as totally refinished by H.M. Pope. Rifle retains nearly all of the blue finish. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Stocks are fine with rubbed oil finish. Set trigger works. Markings are sharp. 52578-2 TEP (2,500-3,500)
