HIGH CONDITION CASED PAIR OF PHILADELPHIA PERCUSSION SAW-HANDLED DUELING/ TARGET PISTOLS BY PROSPER VALLEE.P. VALLEEDUELING TARGETNSN43CASED PAIR W/ACCESS(1829) Cal. 43. 9-1/2" Octagon bbls with hair "rifling" are unmarked. Breech plugs have platinum bands. Back locks are nicely acanthus engraved and are also engraved "P. Vallee" "Phila" (working at South 2nd Street 1829) on tails. American walnut saw-handled half stocks have horn tips and checkered bag grips. Furniture is of iron. Trigger guards have finger spurs and pineapple finials. Triggers are set. Pistols are housed in a mahogany case lined in blue velvet, which contains some accessories. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain most of their orig brown, locks and breech iron have most of their case color. Trigger guards have traces of blue. Stocks retain most of their orig finish with numerous light marks. One gun has a crack at forend running through escutcheon. One lock will not cock. One trigger won't set. These guns are "as found" and undoubtedly need a good cleaning. Pistols fit case perfectly.
