HIGHLY INLAID CURLY MAPLE HUNTINGTON COUNTY KENTUCKY RIFLE ATTRIBUTED TO JOSEPH DOUGLASS.JOSEPH DOUGLASSF/S PERCNSN54Cal. 54. Overall 52". Buttplate 3-3/4" x 3/4". 37" full oct heavy unsigned rifled bbl with engraving front and rear of rear sight. 28 silver inlays. 4-pc wonderfully engraved brass patchbox with three piercings. The nicely engraved sideplate has two piercings. Joseph Douglas was a major gunsmith in Juniata Twp., Huntington County. He had a wonderful eye for architecture and was a marvelous engraver. CONDITION: This rifle is stated as good condition due to the replaced lock and the minor wood repair. Otherwise the gun is in fine condition throughout. A 14" sliver of wood has been replaced along the bbl at muzzle end of stock and percussion lock is a replacement. Mechanics are functional. 52367-3 RGG (3,000-4,500)
