EXTREMELY LONG BARRELED FLINTLOCK SHIMMEL (PO BOY) SOUTHERN LONG RIFLE. FLINTLOCK NA NSN 36 Cal. 36. Overall 66". Buttplate 3-3/4" x 1". 49-3/4" full oct unsigned bbl. This is a full stock curly maple Shimmel (Po Boy or Poor Boy) long rifle. These rifles were basically low cost unembellished guns purchased simply for use around the farm. This rifle has no sideplate and no ramrod pipe with an iron trigger guard. The rifle does have a nosecap and buttplate often absent from many of these rifles. The flint lock is an English TOWER lock engraved with English crown and is not orig to the gun. The touch hole in the bbl is missing. CONDITION: Gun is considered in fair condition due to its replaced lock. The forward lock screw is missing. There are slivers on the left and right hand side of forestock along the bbl, 5" on the right and 4" on left. This is a very pleasing rifle with its extra long bbl. Lock is in good working order.
