FINE FRENCH 1854 DATED PERCUSSION MUSKET. FRENCH 1850 MUSKET NSN 70 Cal. 70. 55-1/2" overall, 40-3/4" bbl, brass and iron mounted, well proofed with indiscernible arsenal markings on lock. This is of the type of guns bought early in the Civil War by Confederate forces which were obsolete in Europe. CONDITION: Very good overall. Metal is a mottled grey with staining and pinprick pitting. Each part of gun is proofed with unit markings on buttplate. Gun appears complete and orig with exception of missing ramrod and front sling swivel. Mechanics are crisp with fairly bright bore with light pitting. 52646-13 JS (800-1,200)
