EARLY AMERICAN SILVER MOUNTED FLINTLOCK OFFICER'S PISTOL WITH 13 INSET STARS.KENTUCKYPISTOLNSNUNKCal. 60. 14-1/2" overall with unmarked 2-stage bbl. Brass mounted with silver inlays including wreath around tang in the style of Southwest Pennsylvania (Emmitsburg). There are a pair of initials, possibly maker stamped, rear of silver lock escutcheon "HI". PROVENANCE: Outstanding estate collection of Confederate and historical arms of Morris Racker. CONDITION: Overall good to very good. Iron is cleaned, pitted and recolored. Gun was not disassembled and could possibly be original flint, but most likely reconversion. Stock has wood inset above lock and forward of lock. Silver inlays appear original as do brass mounts. Tang screw is replaced and ramrod appears to be an old replacement. Still a pleasing old Kentucky pistol with 13 star inlays. 51958-9 JS (3,000-5,000)
