GUN FALL 2017
The live portion of this session begins on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.
US MODEL 1805 HARPERS FERRY PISTOL, SN 580 WITH CHAMBERS CONVERSION. HARRPERS FERRY 1805 580 54 Cal. 54. This particular gun is pictured in Harpers Ferry Arsenal and Joseph Perkin The Classic Arms of the Early Years, Hudak, 2012 on pgs 53-55. Hudak describes "580 (1807) Period patented multi-shot conversion. Chambers Patent brass tube on right side of barrel. Only known M1805 with Chambers conversion. Allowed for multiple shots without reloading. Original flint". Hudak shows close up pictures of the brass hinged door device he describes as "Chambers Patent brass tube". CONDITION: Good overall. Bbl and lock markings discernible, thought SN on bbl and eagle on lock are light and difficult to read due to pitting or cleaning. Iron overall cleaned with mottled dark grey patina. There is an engraved identification marking on right side of rib "L893H6", possibly re-conversion with replaced cock, frizzen and frizzen spring. Brass cleaned with light mustard patina and scattered dents and other cosmetic defects, sideplate is replaced. Mechanically functional though sluggish with pitted smooth bore. 52367-12 JS (6,000-8,000)
