MODEL 1855 SPRINGFIELD PISTOL CARBINE WITH MATCHING STOCK. SPRINGFIELD 1855 16 58 Cal. 58. Standard configuration, 28" overall with stock attached; 18" pistol, 12" rnd bbl dated "1855" at breech, with 3-leaf rear sight. Matching assembly number 16 found on stock and pistol. PROVENANCE: The Confederate and Civil War estate collection of Fred Donaldson. CONDITION: Good overall. Metal has old cleaning. Iron is mostly bright/grey with scattered staining and pitting. Eagle on tape primer door weak, otherwise markings well discerned. Stock refinished on pistol with repaired crack at wrist. Weathered and rounded edges with old varnish. Brass mounts on stock and pistol cleaned, toned back to a light mustard patina. Gun and stock appear orig with exception of restored rear sling swivel base on stock and replaced rear sight. Yoke of stock has been trimmed at top. 52438-9 JS (2,500-3,000)
