SUPERB LARGE RAIL GUN WITH BRASS CANNON BARREL BY HENRY NOCK.NOCKFLINT BLUNDERBUSNSN1.6Cal. 1.6" at muzzle. 22" Brass bbl has octagonal breech section which transitions to round and flares to ring turned cannon muzzle. London black powder proofs and makers initials "HN" are on top left flat. Top flat is engraved with heart-shaped cipher with initials "V" "E" "I" "C" in quadrants surmounted by "4" (British East India Company), along with "NOCK. 1802". Similar markings are on round bodied military type lock with bridled friction frizzen. Military style walnut stock with deeply fluted comb extends to within 3" of muzzle and is brass mounted with military style mounts newly made hand forged yoke for mounting on ship's gunwale or other rail, has been installed. PROVENANCE: Ex Norman Flayderman Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl has dark mustard brown patina. Iron parts nicely toned to light brown patina. Stock is very fine with a few light marks and the appearance of some oil being added. Tang screw is fitted with new nut in front of trigger. 52041-4 MGM202 (4,000-6,000)
