LOETZ PHAENOMEN "BLACK-BOTTOM" VASE.LOETZPHAENOMENSmall Loetz cabinet vase in the desirable PG358 pattern, commonly referred to as a "black-bottom" vase, designed by Franz Hofstoetter c.1900. The vase is decorated with dark brown bottom with silver colored combed threads leading to an opalescent yellow middle and orange collar with iridescent pulled bands throughout. The vase is further decorated with a beautifully stylized art nouveau sterling silver overlay of random waves around the entire body of the vase. Silver is marked "Sterling Silver Deposit" on lower edge of foot, vase is marked on the underside with inscribed "Phen 828/358 D" in the pontil. SIZE: 4" t. CONDITION: Very good to excellent with a few tiny inclusions and bubbles in the glass and one small dimple in the top rim, all from the making. 52593-1 MEF (2,500-4,000)
