ROOKWOOD ARIEL BLUE VASE. ROOKWOOD Rookwood Ariel Blue vase is beautifully painted with a young woman with long flowing hair and long gown walking in the evening with two bats flying over her left shoulder with crescent moon in the background. Vase has a bisque finish or smear glaze version of Ariel Blue and is signed on the under side with the Rookwood flame mark dating it to 1895. It is stamped with shape mark 30 D, also stamped 273 bracketed by two crescents which was Rookwood's mark for Ariel Blue. The bottom also carries the artist monogram with conjoined initials "ABS" for Amelia Browne Sprague. SIZE: 9-1/2" t. PROVENANCE: From a North Carolina Estate.
