HANDEL ELEPHANTINE ISLAND TABLE LAMP.HANDELELEPHANTINE ISLAND66411953Handel table lamp has dome shaped shade with reverse painted decoration of an Elephantine Island ruins on the front and palm trees on the back. The decoration is done primarily in subtle greys and greens against a light grey background. The exterior of the shade is finished in chipped ice. It rests on an original Handel base with three cast griffins forming the feet with a fluted pillar stem, three socket cluster, and fleur de lis cap, all finished in rich brown. Shade is signed on the inside rim "Handel 6641". Base is signed on the underside in raised block letters "Handel" along with an applied metal tag numbered "1953". SIZE: Shade 18" dia. Lamp 25-1/2" t. PROVENANCE: From an Unreserved Ontario, CAN collection. CONDITION: Shade and base are very good to excellent. Rewired with contemporary plastic cord. 52654-1 DAB (4,500-6,500)
