CUSTOM P D FARQUHARSON TANG SAFETY SINGLE SHOT DROPPING BLOCK DANGEROUS GAME RIFLE MARKED JOSEPH BOURNE & SON WITH CASE. J. BOURNE BEST FARQUHARSON RIFLE NSN .500 MODERN; C&R Cal. .500 NE. 26" Two stage tapered round bbl is fitted with quarter rib holding one standing leaf express rear sight, and nicely filed matching front base holding large brass bead front. Top of quarter rib is engraved "Joseph Bourne & Son". Bottom of bbl is stamped with caliber. Case hardened P D (marked on action face) Farquharson top tang safety 3 C action is engraved with 80% coverage large scroll. Engravers signature (?) "BLEILE 04" is on left side of trigger housing. Right side is engraved "GLEN MOROVITS". Very nicely streaked and figured European walnut steel trap capped pistol grip buttstock is well crafted and classically shaped, and measures 14-1/8" over leather covered Decelerator pad. Stock features classic right hand shadow line cheekpiece, borderless point pattern checkering, and side panels that are nicely sculpted with shadow lines. A vacant scrolled oval and sling eye matching that soldered to bottom of bbl, are on toe line. Matching forend with ebony tip attaches to bbl with screw through oval steel escutcheons. Drop at heel: approx 2-1/4", drop at comb: approx 1-13/16". Cast: neutral. Weight: 12 lbs. 8 oz. LOP: 14-1/8". Rifle is housed in full length russet leather case with leather corners, lined in burgundy felt. CONDITION: Excellent, close to new, as custom finished, with only a few of the lightest handling marks in all professionally applied finishes. Bore is excellent. Action is smooth.
