EXCEPTIONALLY FINE BOLT ACTION BIG GAME RIFLE BY WESTLEY RICHARDS WITH MAGNUM LENGTH DOUBLE SQUARE MAUSER TYPE ACTION AND SUPERB LARGE SCROLL AND GAME SCENE ENGRAVING.WESTLEY RICHARDSBOLT RIFLE43611416MODERN(2008) Cal. .416 Rigby. 24" Bbl is fitted with quarter rib holding one standing, two folding leaf express rear sight; sleeved-on sling eye, and Westley Richards patent "best" quality front ramp with flip-over hood holding silver bead with flip-up night bead. Top of bbl is engraved "WESTLEY RICHARDS ENGLAND". Top of quarter rib and sling eye are nicely engraved with shaded scroll. Newly made case hardened commercial magnum length double square solid sidewall action, most likely by Reimer Johannsen, features claw scope bases nicely fitted and dovetailed through action squares, long bolt handle, improved bolt shroud with Model 70 type safety with locking detent (SAFE in gold), large drop box bottom metal with hinged floorplate, and excellent trigger system. Action is engraved with near full coverage exceptionally well cut and shaded large scrolling acanthus. "416 RIGBY" is on right side of receiver ring and SN is on left, as well as on trigger guard bow where it is inlaid in gold. Floorplate is also fully scroll engraved and this very attractive engraving surrounds oval vignette of cape buffalo bull with that "money owed" stare. Exhibition quality, dramatically marbled and wonderfully stump figured European walnut steel trap capped stock measures 14-5/8" over black leather covered pad. Stock features traditional styling with semi-diamond hand, point pattern checkering, horn forend tip, reinforcing stock bolt, and nicely shaped shadow line right hand cheekpiece. Gold oval on toe line is engraved "TRT" "Jr". Rifle is supplied with claw rings scroll engraved and SNed to rifle. Drop at heel: approx 2-3/8", drop at comb: approx 1-5/8" . Cast: approx 3/8 off. Weight: 10 lbs. 0 oz. LOP: 14-5/8". CONDITION: Excellent, with evidence of limited field use, perhaps one safari, with associated minor marks.
