BOSS ROUND BODY SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME SHOTGUN WITH RARE SINGLE SELECTIVE BOSS TRIGGER, CASE AND ACCESSORIES.BOSSROUND BODY480612W/CASE & TOOLSMODERN; C&R(1900) Cal. 12 ga. 2-1/2" Chambers. 28" Chopper lump bbls are engraved "Boss & Co 73 St James's Street London." on game rib. Tops of bbls are engraved "Sir Joseph Whitworth's Fluid Pressed Steel". Bbl flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2-1/2" chambers, and with Whitworth steel logos. Bottoms of bbls have SNs. Square backed, round bodied, sidelock action with automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold) and rare Boss single selective trigger with selector on right lock, is engraved in Boss house style with well cut rose and scroll. Each side of action is engraved "Boss's Patent", and "Boss & Co" is in riband on each lockplate. Small bow single beaded trigger guard has SN in relief on tang. Well marbled, and lightly figured European walnut flat top checkered straight grip buttstock measures 14" over ribbed horn buttplate with 1/4" hard rubber extension. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.733, right - .731. Bore restrictions: left - .008 recess (mod), right - .002 (IC). Wall thickness: left - .022, right - .025. Drop at heel: 2-5/16", drop at comb: 1-3/8"+. Cast: approx 1/2 off. Weight: 6 lbs. 7 oz. LOP: 14". Vintage leather case is lined in burgundy cloth, and has old Boss St. James Street label conserved and mounted in lid, along with reproduction charge card for this gun. Case contains Boss marked snap caps and square oil bottle, and some cleaning equipment. CONDITION: Good as refinished. Bbls retain nearly all of a best black. Action cleaned and re-toned, engraving softened. Stocks have old oil refinish with numerous marks, checkering nicely cleaned up. Top lever, forend iron, and trigger guard re-blued. Engraving details lost. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Ejectors are in time, and trigger appears to work well. Case leather has a few marks and scuffs. Straps and handle are good. Interior cloth is fine, soiled and rubbed. Boss label is considerably foxed with some chips and soiling. One of the earliest round bodies made. 53177-3 mgm146 (12,500-17,500)
