FINE PAIR OF ABBIATICO & SALVINELLI "EXCALIBER" ROUND BODIED, 35TH ANNIVERSARY GAME SHOTGUNS WITH DRAMATIC SCROLL AND BULINO GAME SCENES BY POLI WITH CASE.ABBIATICO & SALVINELLIOU EXCALIBERF0416/F041720 gaW/CASEMODERNCal. 20 ga. 29" Demi-bloc bbls are gold inlaid "Abbiatico & Salvinelli" on solid matted ribs. Breech ends of bbls and ejector housings are gold inlaid with acanthus scroll. Nos. "1" and "2" are in gold on breech ends of ribs, matching similar numbers on top levers, and forend tips. Bbl flats are stamped with 2004 Italian nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. Coin finished, round bodied low profile, scallop-backed, OU actions with removable trigger groups feature automatic safeties (SAFE inlaid in gold), and single non-selective triggers. Actions are engraved with full coverage well cut large open shaded acanthus scroll surrounding Bulino game scenes on bottoms, with a pair of pheasant on gun "1" and ducks on gun "2". Bottoms are also gold inlaid "EXCALIBER ROUND" and "35th ANNIVERSARY" . Sides of actions have makers name in gold in ribbon scrolls. Top lever pivots are gold inlaid "10 20" on gun "1" and "11 20" on gun "2" denoting the 6th pair made in this series. Engravers signature "L. Poli" is on sides of trigger group mortises. Exceptionally well matched dark and dense well marbled and stump figured European walnut "Prince of Wales" grip buttstocks measure 14-1/4" over fully checkered wood butts. Point pattern checkering is on grips with hard rubber caps. Gold ovals on toe lines are engraved with monogram "TM". Matching slim one piece forends have Anson type releases. Gun "1": Bore diameter: top -.625, bottom - .625. Bore restrictions: top - .026 (full), bottom - .017 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-1/16", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Cast: neutral. Weight: 6 lbs. 8 oz. Guns are housed in their "best" oak and brown leather 2-gun case with brass corners by Nizzoli, which is lined in green cloth and has black and gold Famars label in lid. Partitions are oak topped. Case contains round oil bottle, two sets of snap caps, and cleaning equipment. Also included is a Loveless style hunting knife by Cabona with bolster engraved to match guns which has A&S shield etched on right side of blade. Case also contains bags for actions and bbls. CONDITION: Excellent, with evidence of field use, with numerous light marks on toe lines of stocks from passing through brush. Ring marks are on inside of grips, along with a few general marks and nicks overall. Actions show some toning to coin finish on sides. Bores are excellent. Actions are tight. Mechanically excellent.
