EXTRAORDINARILY RARE AND FINE PARKER DHE 16 GAUGE SHOTGUN WITH ORIGINAL 24" BARRELS (ONE OF FOUR MADE IN THIS CONFIGURATION) WITH ORIGINAL HANG TAGS AND FACTORY LETTER.PARKERDHE23944116GAMODERN; C&R; ESACal. 16 ga. 24" titanic steel bbls. 2-3/4" chambers. Gun has a nickel plated Parker single selective trigger, automatic ejectors and non-auto safety. Straight grip buttstock checkered in 3-point pattern with tear drop behind action, silver oval near toe and measures 13-3/4" LOP from rear position single trigger to orig skeleton steel buttplate. Short beaver tail forearm checkered in standard DHE pattern with engraved Deeley release. Receiver is engraved in standard DHE pattern with setter in field on left, pointer in field on right surrounded by Parker scroll. Trigger plate engraved with 4 pheasants in portrait and scroll engraved at top. Bottom of action engraved "PARKER" surrounded by scroll. Trigger guard bow with burst of scroll and SN on tang in wave border and scroll pattern. Top lever is lightly engraved and top tang engraved "SAFE" in front of safety. All visible SN's match. 6 lbs. 10 oz. Bore diameter: left -.665 , right –.665. Bore restrictions: left –.013 lt. mod. right –.021 mod. . Wall thickness: left –.023 , right –.023 . Drop at heel: 2-1/8", drop at comb: 1-9/16". Accompanied by the orig hang tags this gun was shipped with, confirming the gun as found. Also accompanying this gun is a P.G.C.A. factory letter confirming the gun as found with the exception of the weight and notes a ship date of June 30, 1936. CONDITION: Very fine plus. Bbls retain approximately 97% orig blued finish with a small area of loss ahead of forearm on left tube. Buttstock & forearm retain nearly all of an expert factory quality finish. Buttplate has toned, screws still show some orig case color. Forearm with very minor grain separation at knuckle which could easily be made invisible. Action retains approximately 95% bold orig case color with high point edge wear, and thinning on fences and bottom of action. Trigger plate and sides of action are bold and vivid and this gun could easily be used as a benchmark gun for factory orig case colors. Trigger guard has been restored long ago and retains nearly all of its proper blue. This is an extremely rare Parker and the Parker story indicates only four 16 gauge DHE's made with orig 24" bbls. It is very likely this is the only one in this configuration with the options noted. 53050-1 JSL (15,000-25,000)
