EXTRAORDINARY WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 DELUXE SADDLE RING CARBINE ENGR BY ALDEN GEORGE ULRICH WITH FAMILY PROVENANCE.WINCHESTER92 SRC95473044 WCFMODERN; C&R; ESACal. 44 WCF. 20" Stainless Steel bbl, very rare to find this on any Winchester rifle/carbine. The engraving the artistry of Winchester factory engraver Alden George Ulrich in factory style No. 5. patterns with Stag hunting scene on left side and Grizzly on right. The balance of the receiver and appended metal engraved with foiliate scrollwork. Bbl & receiver are properly proof marked. Full magazine with two bbl bands are present. Features a deluxe American walnut pistol grip stock and forearm of 2X and possibly 3X quality with lovely figure. Stock has a hard rubber grip cap with Winchester Repeating Arms Co. present. Bottom toe of buttplate is stamped "265". Left side of bottom lower tang is also stamped 265" and "241" is indicated but is marked out. Stock does not have any assembly line number matched to it but this is characteristic of Winchester factory deluxe gun manufactured in the late 1920s. Accompanied by a 1998 dated and notarized affidavit by David M. Ulrich, second cousin of Alden George Ulrich, which lists this rifle's serial number, configuration and engraving, and states it was made for his father, Leslie Borden Ulrich ca 1925, and engraved by A. George Ulrich at the Winchester factory. It further states the rifle has remained in the Ulrich family until its sale July 6, 1998. PROVENANCE: The Family of Leslie Borden Ulrich; The esteemed collection of Rafael Cruz. CONDITION: Very Fine. Rifle retains virtually all of its original factory finishes. Stainless steel bbl with 98% of the Japan black enamel finish. Left receiver with a faint saddle ring rub. Forend bbl band with thinning at high edges. Buttplate fits perfectly to stock and receiver and retains 90-95% finish. Rifle cycles properly and the bore is near mint. Factory engraved Deluxe 1892 SRCs are extreme rarities and one with rock solid Ulrich family provenance is extraordinary. 53073-2 MS (30,000-50,000)
