FANTASTIC EARLY HOGGSON ENGRAVED AND SILVER-PLATED HENRY RIFLE WITH DELUXE WOOD. HENRY 1ST MODEL, 2ND VARIATION 1215 44 HENRY Cal. 44 RF Henry. 24" bbl with blue finish and two line barrel address. Rear sight is correct with 900 yd set screw elevator. Receiver with full coverage flowing foliate patterns engraved on each side with punch dot background and finely cut borders, a typical feature of Henry factory engraver Samuel J. Hoggson. Left sideplate has an additional spray of flowers from the junction of primary scroll wheels. Matching foliate patterns are engraved on top of receiver and buttplate as well. Buttplate is engraved on tang with silver plating. Fine finished, well-figured stock mounted with sling swivels low on right side of stock and right side of bbl gullet. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very fine. Receiver retains most of its original silver finish with some thinning at high points and edges. Barrel with strong original blue with balance turning to fine patina. Buttplate retains most of its orig silver plating. Small amount of orig case color on hammer and lever in protected areas. Orig finish on wood would indicate that this rifle saw very little use and handling. Screw heads are mostly untouched with only one damaged screw head. Sharp markings. Bright shiny bore. Mechanics are fine. This splendid example of an early engraved Henry rifle saw little use and was just put away. 53091-5 MS (100,000-150,000)
