FABULOUS WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 DELUXE TAKEDOWN WINCHESTER RIFLE WITH FACTORY LETTER.WINCHESTER189228875232MODERN; C&RCal. 32 WCF. 24-3/8" oct bbl. Cal marking on left flat with "32 WCF". Rifle is full magazine w/take down lever and collar. Case colored lever & hammer and case colored buttplate. This most attractive rifle has fancy oil finished pistol grip stock with "H" style checkering and a crescent rifle buttplate. Number on the back of the stock is "10107" and the number on the bottom left side of the tang "20886" with a grade of wood of 1X and an "R" to indicate rifle buttplate. Mismatched numbers indicate that the rifle was likely sent back to the factory for refinishing as the finish is Winchester finish. "Verified" proof mark on top of receiver also indicates that the rifle was refinished by Winchester with a "PW" proof mark. Proof mark on bbl is a standard "PW" raised and is of orig shape and condition. Rifle comes equipped with standard German silver insert on front sight and standard bbl rear sight. Accompanied by a Winchester Factory Letter which confirms special order features and a ship date of Feb 5, 1910. No Repair and Return order listed. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very Fine. Bbl a strong 98% bbl blue with raised proof mark on top flat next to receiver. Mag tube is 97% blue with no scratches evident. Finish on left side of receiver is 98%. Receiver on the right side is 98%. Takedown collar is of orig finish and it is 95-96% strong blue. Hammer retains majority of its case coloring muted somewhat but very evident. Case colors on lever are less evident but strong enough to indicate that the majority of the colors are present. Buttplate is case colored which has 40-60% of the colors remaining. Stock retains most of its oil finish, both on left and right side with minor scratches and light impressions on left side. Right side there is a 2" to 2-1/2" scratch near comb of stock. Checkering is in excellent condition both on stock and forearm. Wood to metal fit is very fine with no chips or splinters of wood missing. There are no cracks in upper or lower tang. Rifle is mechanically excellent. Bore is bright. 53091-193 MS (10,000-15,000)
