MAGNIFICENT WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 RIFLE IN STRAIGHT GRIP DELUXE WOOD WITH WINCHESTER FACTORY LETTER. WINCHESTER 1895 44186 405 MODERN; C&R Cal. 405. 24" rnd bbl with German silver blade front sight and correct rear sight. "Nickel steel bbl" / "especially for smokeless powder". Box style magazine. Receiver with model 21 Lyman receiver sight. Stock is fancy grade American deluxe wood that grades 1X or more. "18963" do not appear on lower tang, rear of buttstock, buttplate or on lower tang of receiver. This is not uncommon for Winchester not to mark bottom tang with assembly numbers because they could use any receiver to mount stock. Stock is equipped with "H" style checkering that wraps from one side to the other in typical Winchester style. Forearm is also checkered in three-diamond pattern. Ebony insert on schnable end of forearm. Receiver is blued with fine checkering on top which is typical for 405 caliber. Lever action is blued, as is trigger. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Extremely fine overall. Bbl retains 98-99% blue. Front and rear sights are near mint. Receiver left side retains 98% condition. Right side has a few light scratches and retains 96% finish. Magazine and lever box assembly retains 95-96% finish. Trigger also has ample mount of finish that grades to 98% blue. Side receiver sight sports all of its finish, 99%. Hammer retains ample amount of case color with very faint drag line that would rate 97-98% strong case color. Stock retains 99% orig piano finish with light scratches and faint impressions. Chip of wood missing on right side next to receiver in upper tang. Right side retains 99% piano finish with light marks and a few scratches. Checkering is not damaged in any way. Some wear to high points. 3-diamond pattern forearm. 95-96% finish on forearm with a few dings on edge next to bbl. Buttplate is case colored, has toned to dark patina and shows faint case colors are in protected areas. All screw heads appear to be unturned and retains most of their case colored appearance. Bright shiny bore. Mechanics are fine. 53091-227 MS (10,000-12,500)
