SUPERB & VERY RARE COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER J.T.C. INSPECTED FOR 1876 WITH FACTORY LETTER. COLT SAA 31861 45 Cal. .45. 7-1/2" bbl. This superb and rare US Cavalry SAA was shipped in December 1876 to the U.S. Government; 1 of 200. These early cavalry single actions are almost impossible to find in fine condition and No. 31861 is virtually brand new as it came from the Springfield Arsenal. The grips are dated 1876 and are inspected by David A. Lyle and John T. Cleveland. These revolvers were shipped barely 6 mos following George Armstrong Custer's debacle at the Little Big Horn and saw extensive use on the western frontier, hence few if any pristine specimens are encountered. This revolver is pristine as it came from Springfield. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Revolver is basically as new, retaining nearly 100% of its Springfield Arsenal bluing and case colors. The grips are virtually mint with perfect inspector's marks on both sides and nearly all of their orig varnish finish. Bore and action are as new and this revolver would be virtually impossible to upgrade. If you want the very finest Cleveland inspected single action extant, this is your opportunity. 53091-98 MRZ (40,000-50,000)
