RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 1906 "EXPERT MODEL" SLIDE ACTION RIFLE WITH HALF-NICKEL FINISH. WINCHESTER 06 557140 22RF MODERN; C&R Cal. 22 RF. 20" rnd bbl, full magazine, half-nickel finish. Plain pistol grip gum wood stocks with Winchester hard rubber buttplate. Bbl shows Winchester 2-line address and patent mark followed by Model designation rolled on left side in front of rear sight. Cal. designation appears at left breech of bbl. Top of bbl at breech is struck with a "WP" proof with same mark on upper ring of receiver. Rear sight is marked "PAT. JAN. 29. 1901". SN appears on forward bottom part of receiver and on lower tang. Upper tang is marked "TRADEMARK / WINCHESTER / REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. & FGN". Hard rubber buttplate has a Winchester logo in a circle. A similar rifle is pictured on pg 536 of The Winchester Book by Madis with a SN very close to this example. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and magazine retain nearly all of the orig blue finish with only slight muzzle wear. Markings are sharp. Sights are fine. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Breech face is clean. Receiver, bolt and trigger guard retain nearly all of the orig nickel finish. Receiver screws show nearly all their blue finish, as does hammer and trigger. Stocks are very fine with only a few minuscule handling marks with a slight abrasion at the toe. Buttplate is fine with a slight chip on left side. Mechanics are crisp. A chance to purchase a Winchester Model 1906 "Expert Model" rifle in a condition that would be nearly impossible to improve upon. 53094-80 TEP (2,500-3,000)
