DESIRABLE 1ST YEAR PRODUCTION WINCHESTER MODEL 1906 SLIDE ACTION RIFLE. WINCHESTER 1906 28024 22 SHORT MODERN; C&R Cal. 22 SHORT. 20" rnd bbl, 7/8 magazine, full blue finish, straight grain American walnut stocks with plain forearm and Winchester hard rubber buttplate. Bbl shows 2-line Winchester address and patent mark in front of model designation rolled in front of rear sight. Cal. is marked on top of bbl at breech. Bbl and receiver show no proof marks. Rear sight is marked "PAT. JAN. 29 1901". SN is struck on bottom forward part of receiver. SN also appears on lower tang. Upper tang is marked "WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK". Buttplate shows Winchester logo. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 95% bright blue finish with some muzzle wear and slide wear. Markings are sharp. Sights are very good. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver retains 98% blue finish with high-point wear and a couple of light scratch marks on right side. All markings are sharp. Stocks are very good, full size and show an old re-varnish finish. Mechanics are crisp. Hard to find example of a 1st year production Model 1906 Winchester. 53094-86 TEP (500-625)
