WARTIME PRODUCTION WINCHESTER MODEL 62 SLIDE ACTION RIFLE. WINCHESTER 62 177046 22RF MODERN; C&R Cal. 22 RF. 23" rnd bbl, 3/4 magazine, full blue finish, straight grain American walnut stocks with Winchester hard rubber buttplate and grooved forend. Bbl shows Winchester address, trademark, model and Cal. designation rolled on left side by rear sight. Sights are standard for this model. "WP" proof is struck on top of bbl and receiver ring. SN appears on bottom of receiver and on lower tang. Left side of receiver is marked "WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK". Buttplate has Winchester logo. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 95% matte blue finish with some muzzle wear and scratches. Markings are sharp. Sights are very good. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver retains nearly all of the bright blue finish. Markings are sharp. Mechanics are crisp. Stocks are very good, slightly oversized and retain most of their orig finish. The fit between receiver, trigger guard and bolt shows large gaps. Stocks are not tightly fit at the tang or at buttplate. This rifle appears orig as built by Winchester. Rifle was made in 1941 at the beginning of WWII. Receiver is of the "Expert" type. Rifle appears to have been quickly assembled at a time when Winchester dedicated their production to war time needs. 53094-113 TEP (1,500-1,800)
