COLT NEW LINE 38 CAL REVOLVER WITH ROSEWOOD GRIPS. COLT NEW LINE 5783 38 RF Cal. 38 RF. 2-1/4" bbl. Full nickel finish. 2-pc plain rosewood grips. Top of bbl shows 2-line Colt address. Left side of bbl shows "COLT NEW 38" in an etched panel. SN is struck on the inside left grip frame and under the bbl. Last 3 digits are struck on the rear face of the cyl with a "C" inspector mark. Bbl shows a "W" inspector mark in the cyl base pin channel. Grips are not marked. Left side of frame is marked "38 CAL". PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains most of the somewhat frosty nickel finish. Address is sharp. Panel is completely legible. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Frame also retains 90% of the mostly cloudy nickel finish with some slight thinning on the bottom forward portion. Hammer shows fire blue on the rear face. Trigger shows traces of blue. Markings are sharp. Mechanics need attention. Cyl is out of time. Grips retain most of their varnish finish with some minor handling marks. A fine example of an early Colt New Line 38 revolver. 53094-38 TEP (1,000-1,250)
