PRIME COLT MODEL 1877 THUNDERER WITH FACTORY BOX AND LETTER. COLT 1877 155917 41 MODERN; C&R Cal. .41 Colt. 6" bbl. Blue and case color finishes. 2pc hard rubber Rampant Colt grips. Single/double action operation with ejector mechanism. This outstanding Colt dbl action is documented with a 1972 dated factory letter verifying its configuration and that it was part of a two gun shipment in 1907 to Shonn & Barber Co. A subnote on the bottom of the letter indicates that the revolver was orig shipped in July 1905 to E.S. Wilson Hardware, but for some reason was returned and reshipped as above in September 1907. These delicate bird's head grip revolvers were well known for having reliability issues. This is not the case of this example and it is housed in its numbers matching Colt box with blue Colt label and white "WITH EJECTOR" label on ends. Traditional Model 1877 2-line Colt address on top of bbl as well as being marked "COLT.D.A.41" on left side of bbl. Fixed half-moon front sight with traditional grooved frame top acting as rear sight. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Outstanding with only traces of box wear evident at tips of muzzle, leading edge of ejector rod housing and only a touch of wear to extreme high points of the hard rubber grips. Mechanics function perfectly, as if factory new. Bore is equally fine. A small trace of corrosion is evident on one cyl chamber from obviously resting within its box. Grips have no trace or indication of ever being numbered at factory. One minute area; approx 1/8" sq of finish is missing at extreme rear of grip strap, also believed to be box wear. A better example would be very hard to find. 53094-18 TDW (5,000-7,500) W/BOX
