AMES / SPRINGFIELD" on one ricasso and "UNITED / STATES / 1833" on other. 25-3/4" overall with 19" double edged blade with 3 fullers, complete "ADK" inspected scabbard. 2) Ames Dahlgren Bowie-bayonet, 16-5/8" overall, 12" blade dated and inspected "U.S.N. / D.R. / 1863" with full maker's mark. Matching brass mounted leather scabbard. These 2 knives are very fine examples, retaining most of their orig finish. CONDITION: 1) Blade retains some orig luster with staining and pinprick pitting. Several nicks in cutting edge. Markings are crisp and well discerned. Scabbard mounts and hilt have mixed mustard patinas. 2) Blade retains most of orig luster with several light nicks in cutting edge. Brass mounts have matching, cleaned patina.
