DEALER ENGRAVED TIPPING & LAWDEN MODEL 3 STYLE 4-BARREL PEPPERBOX PISTOL. TIPPING & LAWDEN 4 BBL PEPPERBOX 623 30RF Cal. 30 RF. 3" bl shows British proof marks in flutes on both sides, blue and silver finish, 2-pc gutta percha grips. SN stamped on forward end of bbl. Top rib is marked "E.M.REILLY & CO. LONDON" which is a dealer's mark. Left side of frame is marked "SHARPS' PATENT" in a semi-circle around hammer screw. The upper half of circle has been engraved over. Frame is marked "42409" behind trigger. Bbl cluster has scroll engraving at breech and on each side. There is a stippled cartouche in center of engraving on side bbl. Muzzle has line decoration. Frame is engraved overall in a tight English scroll pattern. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl cluster retains 60% blue finish that is drifting to an even plum/brown with some muzzle wear. Markings are sharp. Bores are dark with traces of rifling. Frame is a deep mustard patina overall with traces of silver-plate in protected areas. Grips are very good, intact with some high-point wear overall. Mechanics are crisp. A nice example of an engraved copy made in England of a Sharps Model 3 4-bbl Pepperbox. 53094-36 TEP (2,500-3,000)
