COLT 1911 CUTAWAY CALIBER .45 ACP PISTOL. COLT 1911 CUTAWAY 45 MODERN; C&R Cal. 45 ACP. This pistol is a cutaway and cannot be made functional. Pistol lacks any markings or numbers on external surfaces. Extensive cuts are made to the slide and receiver to show functional operation of pistol. All parts appear to be present except for the right stock and stock screws. Left stocks and stock screws are present. Left stock is full checkered walnut with no diamonds. Front sight is thin, tapered and rounded. Rear sight is flat with rounded notch. Hammer is long wide spur checkered. Grip safety is short tang with typical Colt bevel on bottom edge. Main spring housing is flat but missing lanyard loop. Cutaway magazine has lanyard loop and is two-tone. Trigger is long, smooth milled. Slide stop has 1911 relief cut and is checkered. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Bore is bright and shiny. Outside of bbl shows considerable rust as does bbl bushing. Due to the extensive cuts in pistol, which weaken the receiver and slide, no attempt should be made to fire it. Cutout which exposes sear and hammer notch weakened the rear part which has cracked. Extreme caution should be used if the pistol is disassembled. Most of the slide finish has turned to patina. Receiver front strap has thinned and turned to patina. Pistol and safeties appear to mechanically function. Overall condition is good except as noted. 53094-3 KXK (2,500-3,500)
