GROUP OF 4 VARIANT FAIRBAIRN-SYKES WWII ERA COMMANDO KNIVES.

This is a fine group of four variants of rare Fairbairn-Skyes Allied commando knives. Each has about 7" dagger point blade. Variants include ringed and beaded brass grip with broad arrow proof. Sheath has indiscernible Lieutenant's name inked on back and embossed "AIRBORNE". Another example with ribbed iron grip stamped "FR 698" near capstan which is painted black. Another version is stippled solid metal grip with integral crossguard. The fourth version is post-WWII with an OD painted metal mounted leather sheath with integral frog. SIZE: PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very good to fine overall. "Rings and Beads" variant has light pitting near tip with possible slight reduction in length, measuring just over 7-1/16" over all. Iron ribbed variant is fine, retaining most of its orig finish, including black paint on capstan rivet. Sound sheath retaining elastic catch. Stippled variant measures just over 6-3/4" with old sharpening and re-pointed, U.S. sheath is dated and inspected "1943". OD painted knife retains most of its orig finish with some melted black resin found on frog and grip. 53094-214 JS (1,500-2,000)
