WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 THEODORE ROOSEVELT 150 YEAR COMMEMORATIVE RIFLE IN ORIGINAL BOX. WINCHESTER 1895 TR150H1115 405WIN MODERN Cal. 405 WIN. 24" rnd bbl, blue and pewter finish with gold accent. Nicely figured checkered American walnut stocks with plain steel shotgun buttplate. Bbl shows "WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 THEODORE ROOSEVELT HIGH GRADE...CALIBER 405WIN. ONLY" rolled on left side of bbl near rear sight. Top of bbl shows a facsimile of Roosevelt's signature in gold. Right side of bbl shows maker and import mark for Miroku of Japan. Bbl has orig Winchester label on forward bottom. Bbl has beaded front sight and standard sporting rear sight. "WP" proof is struck at left breech. Left side of receiver is tightly scrolled engraved with animal figures and gold riband stating "THEODORE ROOSEVELT 1858-2008 150 YEARS FATHER OF CONSERVATION". Magazine shows game scenes bordered by scroll. Lever shows vignette of Roosevelt inlaid in gold. Right side of receiver also shows same scene. Lever shows vignette of Roosevelt standing in hunting gear. Right side of buttstock has golden high relief commemorative coin of Roosevelt. SN marked on forward right side of receiver. Upper tang marked "WINCHESTER / MODEL 1895". Accompanied by orig shipping carton with end label describing gun by SN. Box is housed in commemorative sleeve. CONDITION: Very fine. Rifle has two-tone finish of blue and pewter. Bbl, bolt, hammer are blue. Receiver, magazine, and lever are pewter. Trigger is gold washed. Bbl shows nearly all orig blue finish. Markings are sharp. Sights very good. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Bolt face is clean, loading ramp is not scratched. Receiver retains all pewter finish. All engraving and decoration is sharp. Buttstock retains all of the blue finish. Mechanics are crisp. Stocks are very fine with no evidence of handling. Box is very good. Sleeve is slightly frayed. A chance for a collector to have a faithful copy of Theodore Roosevelt's "Lion Medicine". 53080-27 TEP (1,500-2,250)
