RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 65 RIFLE WITH BOLT PEEP SIGHT.WINCHESTER651005903218BEEMODERN; C&RCal. 218 BEE. 24" rnd bbl, half magazine, blue finish. Straight grain American walnut stocks with plain pistol grip and checkered steel shotgun buttplate. Hooded front sight mounted on a ramp. Rear sight mortise is plugged. Bbl shows Winchester Model and Cal. designation on left breech with Winchester address on right. "WP" proof marks are struck on breech of bbl and top ring of receiver. Receiver has SN stamped on bottom forward end. Upper tang is marked "WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK / MADE IN USA". CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 90% plus orig blue that his drifting to a plum patina toward the muzzle with some abrasion on the top behind the front sight. Front sight is very good. Markings are sharp. No evidence of rear sight having ever been installed. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver also retains 90% plus orig blue with most of the wear on the bottom at the carry point. Loading gate shows traces of fire blue. Hammer and lever retain considerable blue finish with some flaking on lever. All markings are sharp. Bolt sight is very good. Stocks are very fine, full sized and retain most of the varnish finish with only minuscule handling marks, mostly on the right side of forearm. Buttplate retains considerable blue finish with wear at the heel and toe. Forend cap retains 90% blue finish with a few scratches. A very fine example of a rare Winchester 65 rifle, one of only 5,704 manufactured. 53080-44 TEP (3,000-4,000)
