RARE "COLT PATENT" DRAGOON FLASK, WELL PATINATED.8-1/2" tall with early plunger style measure. Flask retains traces of orig varnish in protected areas with rich patina overall, nicely highlighting the details of the panoply of American flags, cannon, and arms. Ribbon at bottom of motif reads "COLT'S PATENT". Decoration is seen on both sides. Top of flask has trapdoor marked "COLT'S PATENT" for caps. Two triangular carrying rings are found on either side. Plunger is marked "35 / GRS" which is same as found on Walker's. This is an honest, orig example that shows honest use with great dark patina. SIZE: PROVENANCE: The esteemed collection of Rafael Cruz. CONDITION: Fair to good overall. Several dents and dings. Iron screws all rusted, plunger is non-functional and locked in place. As noted in description, strong traces of varnish are found in protected areas with an overall mixed chocolate/dark mustard patina. 53074-3 JS (1,500-2,000)
