COLT 1ST GENERATION SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER WITH FACTORY LETTER. COLT SAA 348454 45LC MODERN; C&R Cal. 45 LC. 7-1/2" bbl. Blue and case color finish. 2-pc hard rubber grips with Colt medallions. Bbl shows 1-line Colt address rolled on top with Cal. mark on left side. SN is stamped on frame and on inside of trigger guard and backstrap, numbers match. Cyl was not removed, base pin is stuck. Assembly No. "186" appears on rear of loading gate and right rear of frame. Frame shows 2-line Colt patent mark on left side followed by Rampant Colt logo. Grips are marked "356836". Accompanied by a Colt factory letter confirming features and showing shipment to Shapleigh Hardware Company, St. Louis for Andrew E. Gusken on February 10, 1926 in a one gun shipment. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl and ejector housing retain 95% blued finish with only slight high-point wear at the muzzle and ejector rod. Markings are sharp and clear. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Front sight is full sized. Base pin is slightly battered from attempted removal. Trigger guard and backstrap also retain 90% blue finish with some wear marks on the forward grip. Cyl retains 90% blued finish with a slight drag mark between bolt stops. Frame shows 90% case color finish that is slightly faded. Hammer also shows 90% case color finish with some staining. All markings are sharp and clear. Grips are fine with sharp checkering and no losses. Mechanics are crisp. This is a nice example of a Colt Single Action specially ordered in 1926. 52882-1 TEP (6,000-8,000)
