CIVIL WAR NEW MODEL 1859 SHARPS SADDLE RING CARBINE. SHARPS 1859 CARBINE 79643 52 Cal. 52. Unusual configuration of a '63 New Model Sharps bbl with patchbox as these were normally seen on New Model 1859s. Regardless, standard configuration 39" overall with 22" bbl with good bbl and lock markings. CONDITION: Fair to good overall. Metal fairly sharp, grey with staining, light pitting, good markings on bbl, sight, lock and frame. Buttstock is quite weathered, though cartouches can still be seen in outline. Inset of wood on lower left of buttstock abutting frame. Forestock has same weathered appearance with deep grain openings. Mechanics are fine though missing Maynard capping device with crisp well defined rifling in bore. 52801-1 JS (1,500-2,500)
