UNUSUAL FEDERAL ERA 5-BALL MILITIA SWORD WITH ADDED SILVER NAVAL MOTIF.Early 19th century horseman style sword with wide 28" curved blade with gold highlighted Federal eagle below a cloud of stars. There is a 1" x 5-1/8" silver plaque inset into fluted bone grip with a fluted anchor. Scabbard throat is engraved "BROWN & CO / BOSTON". SIZE: CONDITION: Very good. Blade is overall grey with staining and pitting, about 80% of gold highlights are still present. Scabbard mounts and hilt retain 20-30% silver plate overall. Leather scabbard body is sound and solid with craquelure and scuffing. Bone grip has hand worn patina with a couple hairlines. 52865-37 JS (3,000-5,000)
