FANCY CIVIL WAR OFFICER'S SWORD PRESENTED TO CAPT. HARRY ROCKAFELLER, PHILADELPHIA CITY GUARDS.High grade Model 1850 officer's sword with solid metal spiral decorated grip, raised relief scabbard mounts, eagle quillon and extra engraving on pommel, guard and mounts. Steel scabbard engraved between top mounts "PRESENTED TO / CAPT. HARRY ROCKAFELLAR [sic] / BY THE / FRIENDS AND MEMBERS / OF THE / PHILA CITY GUARDS / OCTOBER 27 1862". SIZE: CONDITION: Very good overall. 31" blade has discernible etched panels and makers mark of "COLLINS & CO HARTFORD, CONN", overall bright/grey with staining and pitting with old cleaning. Brass has been cleaned and toned to a medium mustard patina. 52865-40 JS (3,000-5,000)
