CIVIL WAR ERA FOOT OFFICER'S SWORD WITH LARGE IMPORTED HORSEMAN STYLE BLADE.This sword was possibly a special order for an officer that wanted a fighting blade. Blade is 1-1/4" wide and 28-1/2" long, slightly curved with etched panels reminiscent of 1830's. Blade has Solingen maker mark, gilded foot officer's hilt with matching scabbard mounts. SIZE: CONDITION: Very good to fine overall. Sword appears "as found" retaining over half its orig gilting to hilt and scabbard mounts. Scabbard body is sound with some scuffing, retaining over half its orig polish with craquelure. Blade overall is grey with staining, some luster. Leather grip is sound, worn through at high areas, with fancy triple wire wrap. 52865-59 JS (800-1,200)
