EAGLE HEAD NAVAL DAGGER.Early 19th century naval dagger made for American market has 10-1/2" curved blade. 3-1/2" crossguard terminates in acorn finials. Front languette has raised relief fluted anchor, carved polished bone grip has twisted wire wrap and a brass connecting chain to guard. Brass scabbard is florally engraved on both sides. SIZE: CONDITION: Good to very good overall. Scabbard is missing throat and is poorly fit. Blade shows old cleaning, grey overall, small areas of orig gilt etching seen at ricasso. Scabbard and brass mounts cleaned with matching light mustard patinas. 52865-15 JS (2,000-2,500)
