GROUP OF 4 19TH CENTURY AMERICAN MILITARY SWORD BELTS.1) Red Moroccan patent leather belt with 2-1/2" square eagle buckle, circa 1820. 2) Circa 1830 militia buckle on linen belt. 3) Civil War era patent 1850 officer's sword belt with silver and gold plated eagle buckle. 4) 1850 sword belt plate, Spanish-American War era or later. Also accompanying this lot is a shortened red silk Civil War era sash, a set of Horstman buff leather patent sword hangers and a very poor condition incomplete Infantry aigulette. SIZE: CONDITION: 1) Buckle is very good overall with traces of gold plate with verdigris. Belt still retains some gilt decorated design. Sword hangers are partial and there is a weak area in belt which is about half torn through. 2) Buckle cleaned with medium mustard patina. Belt soiled and stained with several reductions. 3) Buckle is fine with dark patina, with gold and silver tarnished. Patent leather belt has gold plated keeper, benchmarked "00". No benchmark noted on buckle, but both fit fairly well. Patent leather belt has fraying and tearing, especially to sword hangers and over the shoulder strap, but appears complete. 4) Very good overall, including sword straps. 52865-60 JS (1,500-2,500)
