EARLY EMBELLISHED FLINTLOCK GERMAN STYLE CLUB BUTT JAEGER RIFLE.GERMANICJAEGERNSN6029" oct bbl. Triangular rifled bore is 1/2" across each flat. Highly decorated brass mountings with boar hunting scene at top of buttplate, animal scenes on trigger guard and side plate. There is a plate in the wrist with a gold embellished family crest on it. Relief carving on top of stock in wrist area. Carved on either side of butt. Missing patchbox cover and ramrod. Gun does not appear to be maker marked. Double set triggers, front trigger broken off. This gun was most likely made sometime in the 1700's. CONDITION: Bbl and lock appear to have been blued at some point. Wood is solid with dings, handling marks, small worm holes consistent with age of gun. Brass mountings have been polished at some point. The right side of the front ramrod ferrule at the rear is bent and broken, appears to have been repaired at some point in the past. Bore is rusty. Strong tension on frizzen spring. Hammer will not release due to front trigger having been broken off. Mainspring feels to have good tension. 53048-2 GER (1,500-2,500)
