NEAT J. HARKOM 16 GAUGE BOXLOCK SPORTING GUN.J. HARKOMBOXLOCK241816 GAMODERN; C&RCal. 16 ga. 28" sleeved bbls with plain top rib inscribed "JOSEPH HARKOM & SON 30 GEORGE STREET ENDINBURGH". Mashed steel front bead, rib extension lightly scroll engraved. Double triggers, automatic ejectors, automatic safety. Buttstock is of nicely figured honey colored walnut checkered in 2-pt pattern with 14" LOP. There is a 1" wood extension at butt which is checkered. Splinter forearm is near fully checkered with engraved Anson type push button release. Beautifully sculpted fences are scroll engraved. Sides of action near fully scroll engraved and marked "J. HARKOM & SON" in well executed flowing banner. Bottom of action is near full coverage scroll engraved. Top tang is nicely scroll engraved with gold bar in front of safety engraved "SAFE". Long tang trigger guard is scroll engraved with border pattern on bow and SN at tang. Silver shield which is unengraved near toe. All visible SNs match. Weight: 5 lbs, 15 ozs. Bore diameter: left - .661, right – .660. Bore restrictions: left – .018 (mod), right – .007 (I/C). Wall thickness: left – .028, right – .038. Drop at heel: 2-1/16", drop at comb: 1-9/16". CONDITION: Good. Sleeved bbls retain approx. 75% of their older custom blued finish with thinning at muzzles. Receiver has gone mostly gray. Engraving is very lightly worn. Buttstock and forearm have been restored long ago. Checkering is thin. Forearm with two grain separations near iron. Bores are very good with beginning minor orange peel.
