ELEGANT L.C. SMITH SIDELOCK MODEL A1 12 GAUGE SHOTGUN.L.C. SMITHA159912Cal. 12 ga. 30" fine Damascus twist bbls with rib marked "MADE BY THE HUNTER ARMS CO. FULTON N.Y.". SN 599 and grade mark A1 on bottom of bbls to rear of forearm latch. Double trigger ejector gun with modestly engraved receiver and sideplates with dual hunting dogs scene surrounded by scroll and foliate on both locks. A grouse scene is minutely engraved on trigger guard surrounded by additional scroll and foliate. Receiver is elegantly engraved on top of receiver with additional scroll and likewise engraved on bottom and up both sides of receiver. Mounted with highly figured American walnut stocks with traditional Hunter Arm's game scene hard rubber buttplate. 1 of approx 752 produced. Bore diameter: left - .728, right – .725. Bore restrictions: left – .034 (full), right – .030 (full). Wall thickness: left – .035, right – .038. Drop at heel: 2-3/4", drop at comb: 1-1/8". Weight: 8 lbs, 4 ozs. CONDITION: Very good overall with Damascus bbls having somewhat darkened with age. Case colors have somewhat silvered, but are evident in protected areas. 2pc walnut stocks are quite fine with no crackage or material loss on butt. Forearm is fairly worn in checkering areas and somewhat darkened with oil staining. Hard rubber buttplate is intact, slightly worn but with no material loss. Bores are very fine with some very light frosting from period use. Mechanics are somewhat sticky with ejectors failing to function reliably, however an extremely uncommon gun and rarely found in any condition. 53147-1 TDW (3,000-5,000)
