EXCEEDINGLY RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 61 WITH ROUTLEDGE SMOOTH BORE.WINCHESTER614520022 SHOTMODERN; C&RCal. .22 LONG R. Smooth bore. 24" rnd bbl with bead front sight and .375 bore dia at muzzle. Matted receiver. Blue finish on metal components with exception of polished bolt. 2pc walnut stocks with 17-groove forearm and checkered steel buttplate. This exceedingly rare variation is believed to be 1 of only 75 produced by Winchester with its distinct gallery-type triangular mag opening and off-set Winchester proof on receiver to facilitate the factory installed matting. All traditional bbl markings are appropriately on left side of bbl. Mfg 1940. CONDITION: Very fine overall with most all blue finish remaining, however bbl is turning somewhat plum and suffers minor finish loss on mag and bbl from pump operation. Unique Routledge smooth bore is bright with no corrosion or pitting. Walnut stocks are very good overall with much factory finish remaining and typical finish wear at wrist and forearm from use with several areas of slight scratches and bruises from period use.
