Frame is eagle 140 inspected. Eagle 88 inspected slide and bbl. Matching SN's on slide, frame and bbl. Chocolate Bakelite grips. This gun is described on p. 175, pictured p. 176 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. II by Warren Buxton. "jvd" marked mag. Accompanied by black leather clam shell holster marked on back "jln/1943", WaA145, "P38". PROVENANCE: The esteemed collection of noted expert and author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Very good with finish wear to front strap, high points, light handling marks. Right side of slide has numerous small scratches by proof marks. All markings clear. CONDITION: Good as arsenal refurbished. Markings are clear. Finish wear on high points. Fine grips with light handling marks. Bore has moderate pitting with good rifling. Fine mechanical function. Orig number on slide has been X'd out, matching number to frame and bbl stamped under "P.38" mark. Marked on front strap "S.K.IV.B." sunburst. This is a West German police marking. This gun and marking are explained further on p. 43, pictured on p. 44 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. III by Warren Buxton. Chocolate Bakelite grips. Eagle 359 inspected mag. Accompanied by black leather flap holster. Marked on back "gxy 1944", "P38". Marked inside flap in ink "Ltn. Gúppert". PROVENANCE: The esteemed collection of noted expert and author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Fine as arsenal refurbished. All markings clear. Grips are very good with some wear and handling marks. Bore is good with light pitting and wear throughout. Fine mechanical function. FINE SPREEWERKE P38 FN 9MM PISTOL.SPREEWERKEP38493X9MMHOLSTERMODERN; C&RCal. 9mm. 5" bbl. Standard markings, with the addition of an "m" on left side rear trigger guard web. This marking denotes manufacture of frame by FN under contract. Right side of slide is marked "**", at bottom rear just after serrations. Eagle 88 inspected. Matching SN's on slide, frame and bbl. Very dark chocolate bakelite grips. This gun is explained on p. 175, pictured p. 177 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. II by Warren Buxton. This is the lowest SN known of this variation. Eagle 359 inspected mag. Accompanied by brown leather flap holster marked on back, "gxy 1944", "P38". PROVENANCE: The esteemed collection of noted expert and author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Fine with most of the orig finish, some light wear on high points and handling marks. Finish worn from front strap. All markings clear. Discoloration at top of chamber end of bbl. Grips have light handling marks and scratches. Bore is good with strong rifling, very minor roughness. Fine mechanical function. Holster is pliable, strong stitching. Small hole at bottom.
