Matching numbers slide, frame & bbl. This gun has what is referred to as an "experimental" copper finish to frame. Blued bbl and slide. Brown Bakelite grips. Eagle 359 inspected mag. This gun, based on proof marks and minor dings in metal is the gun pictured on pg. 116 of The P38 Pistol, Vol. III by Warren Buxton. Accompanied by black leather clam shell holster. Marked on back "0/0836 / 0029", WaA383, "P38". PROVENANCE: The esteemed collection of noted expert and author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Very good with finish wear to front strap and high points. All markings clear. Grips are fine with minor handling marks. Bore has light to moderate pitting with strong rifling. Trigger needs to be pulled twice on sgl action to get hammer to fall. Standard markings, with the addition of a droop wing eagle 165 military acceptance proof on left side of slide. Droop wing eagle 27 proofs on right side of frame as well as "70" date code. "10/60" dated on right side of slide. Matching last 3 digits of SN on left side of slide. Matte finish on steel parts. Aluminum frame. Black plastic grips. Two proper mags. Factory matching box. Austrian Eagle/BH police marking on left side of frame. Dated "1/67" on right side of slide. Aluminum frame. Locking block is missing the retaining spring and is a rough finished replacement. Black plastic grips. Proper P.38 mag. Accompanied by black leather German Police holster. PROVENANCE: The esteemed collection of noted expert and author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Very good with a majority of finish, wear on high points. Markings are clear. Grips have minor scratches and handling marks. Bore is excellent shiny and bright.
