COLT MODEL 1911 CAL. .45 ACP NAVY MARKED PISTOL IN EXCELLENT ALL ORIGINAL CONDITION WITH FACTORY LETTER. COLT 1911 NAVY 40176 45 MODERN; C&R Cal. 45 ACP. 5" bbl. Right slide marked "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.NAVY". Left slide marked with Colt's typical 1911 last patent date followed by Colt's standard Hartford address. Rear of slide has un-circled Rampant Colt. Left receiver has "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with Roman font. Walter G. Penfield inspection mark over magazine catch. Front sight is thin, tapered, rounded. Rear sight is rounded with rounded notch. Rear sight registration mark lines up perfectly. Hammer is wide spur, stubby, checkered. Grip safety has short tang. Main spring housing has typical Colt bevel. Magazine is a two-tone lanyard loop type. Stocks are Colt double diamond. Bbl has proper "P H" "horizontal" orientation. Magazine catch lock is properly slotted. Slide stop is typical Colt checkering pattern. Most Navy pistols show heavy wear. This pistol shows only moderate wear to the front grip strap and has an overall very attractive finish. PROVENANCE: Bruce Burtner collection. CONDITION: Slide right shows several dings on bottom of ejection port. Slide top and left also show minor dings. Orig stocks are near new. Stock screws are pristine with only slight edge wear. Receiver right shows only faint scratches at rear. Receiver left shows minor erosion around acceptance stamp. Small parts, trigger, hammer, slide stop, thumb safety, grip safety all excellent condition. Main spring housing shows only minor wear at the bottom corner. Front grip strap shows considerable patina. Finish is all orig and mostly present except as noted. Bore is excellent, bright and shiny. Mechanics are crisp. Overall very fine with around 93% orig finish. Extraordinary 1913 Navy would fit in the finest collections. 52914-5 KXK (6,000-10,000)
