EARLY COLT 1911 ARMY MARKED PISTOL MADE IN 1913.COLT19113663845ACPMODERN; C&RCal. 45 ACP. 5" bbl. Early Colt 1911 made in 1913. Bbl is Colt 45 auto marked along axis with small "g" ahead of lug. Bbl is from a 1911 A1 Colt pistol. Slide has faint lettering scratched into the right hand side appears to be "R.ESS". Slide has narrow tapered rounded front sight and rounded rear sight with "H" above firing pin stop plate. Left side has standard 1911 last patent date marking with circled Colt to rear. Slide is from a pre-SN 20,000 pistol. Left side bears Walter G. Penfield acceptance mark above magazine catch. Magazine is keyhole type. Slide has crisp "model of 1911. U.S. Army". CONDITION: Dust cover has only minor patina on right side. Receiver right hand side shows scattered patina and minor pitting in multiple places.. Left side shows heavy pitting on dust cover below "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with minor pitting around magazine release. Front grip strap shows mainly patina. Main spring housing shows mainly patina with some wear from holster. Wear mark from holster stud in typical place below SN. Edges of dust cover show minor holster wear. Magazine bottom and butt bottom show moderate patina-pitting. Walter G. Penfield acceptance mark is crisp. "UNITED STATE PROPERTY" is crisp and untouched by pitting. Magazine in very good condition with patina on bright surfaces. Magazine catch and lock are crisp. Slide stop in excellent condition with no patina. Bore is dirty and shows some pitting but may clean up some. Slide is in good condition. Stocks are moderately worn especially at right stock at the bottom. Stock screws right are crisp. Stock screws left show minor tool marks. Mechanics are crisp. Overall appearance and condition is very good for a 105 year old pistol. 52792-2 KXK (2,500-5,000)
