EXTREMELY RARE PARTIAL SET OF ACCESSORIES FOR HOTCHKISS MOUNTAIN RIFLE AND VICKERS MACHINE GUN SADDLE MOUNTS.Hotchkiss Mountain rifles, gun and carriage were carried by two horses or mules and a third animal carried ammunition. Each animal carried a special designed saddle: saddle one carried wheels and bbl; the second animal carried the carriage; the third animal carried four ammunition boxes. This grouping has one saddle which carried Vickers WWI vintage machine gun and straps are marked "VICKERS & SONS LONDON MAXIM LTD". Also included as can be seen in photographs are six canvas, leather and iron cinches marked for the various Hotchkiss Mountain gun saddles, complete with straps and other accessories as can be seen in photos. SIZE: CONDITION: Very good overall, though leather is mostly dry and there are a few broken or cracked straps, but all in all, this horse hardware is very good considering it is all well over 100 years old. 53016-1 JS (2,500-3,500)
